Performances from the 2010 ‘MBC Gayo Daejun’

MBC’s “2010 Music Festival“, the last of the three colossal year-end music programs, delivered a successful show on December 31st at the Ilsan MBC Dream Center in Gyeonggi-do.

The event had an impressive line-up of stars, which included never-before-seen performances and special collaboration stages. The music festival also boasted a formidable trio of MCs – actor Ryu Si Won and SNSD’s Yuri and Tiffany teamed up as the ‘Hallyu MCs’.

Some highlights include Song Dae Kwan, Tae Jin Ah, and Hong Jin Young’s trot collaboration; “Khuntoria“’s couple dance; F.T. Island and CNBLUE band battle; After School’s introduction of their 9th member; as well as the dance collaborations of 2PM-miss A and Super Junior-f(x).

And like in previous years, the stars were split into two teams: White and Blue team, and viewers will vote (mobile votes) as to which team of performers impressed them the most on this night.

Bring in the New Year with L’arc-en-Ciel on Ustream!

Rock band L’arc-en-Ciel will perform at the “61st NHK Kohaku Utagassen”, but after that, they will be ringing in the New Year with fans around the world.
Starting at exactly midnight (JST, 7:00 AM PST, 8:00 AM EST), January 1, 2011, they will be streaming their 20th Anniversary live, ‘20th L’Anniversary Starting Live “L’A HAPPY NEW YEAR!”‘. It will be held at the same hall that “Kohaku” is using, Makuhari Messe Hall.

TVXQ releases tracklist to “Keep Your Head Down”

With preparations for TVXQ’s two-member comeback underway, the tracklist for their album, “Keep Your Head Down“, has just been revealed through YesAsia.
The album will be divided into two releases: the ’special edition’, which features a 100-page photobook, will be released on January 5th followed by the ’standard edition’ on the 12th. The special edition contains 10 songs, while the standard edition will include a bonus track, bringing the total to 11.
The duo will also be holding a fanmeeting mid-January to coincide with their album release.

[UPDATE] GD&TOP x Monster headphones not official/endorsed but are real/authentic products

As soon as the product was announced, the ‘GD&TOP edition‘ of ‘Beats by Dre‘ headphones were a highly sought-after product by hardcore fans.
According to online shopping site, CJMall.com, the headphones come with a price tag of 649,900 ₩ (approximately $566.90 USD). Thus, details on their official endorsement status and legitimacy were important to potential clients.
allkpop was contacted by a representative from Monster Cable (who manufactures ‘Beats‘), and they notified us that GD&TOP’s headphones are “not an authorized product in the Dr. Dre line“. They further clarified, “It is unclear at this time if they are authentic Beats headphones that have been customized with GD&TOP artwork, or if they are counterfeit products making unauthorized use of Beats logos and design.”
The staff on the “Beats By Dre” official Twitter account have further asserted that GD&TOP’s headphones “are NOT an authorized product and does not come with our warranty or support”.

B2ST’s Hyunseung & Kikwang perform “Let It Snow” on Inkigayo

Having performed on M! Countdown earlier, B2ST’s Hyunseung and Kikwang will be the only B2ST unit that will perform on the final Inkigayo episode of the year.
B2ST’s Kikwang & Hyunseung put on an unforgettably dramatic stage to close out the year, in large part due to their modern sexiness and neverending charisma.

JYJ to appear on talk show, SBS’s “Good Morning”

JYJ will be making their first public broadcast appearance of 2011 on SBS’s “Good Morning.”
A representative of SBS revealed through Newsen on December 27th, “JYJ recorded for ‘Good Morning’ today. While discussing possible celebrities that will be promoting in 2011, we decided to request JYJ’s appearance. The trio finished about an hour and a half of footage and still have additional recording left.”
The trio will also be performing for the first time on public broadcast through December 31st’s KBS’s “2010 Drama Awards“. These two confirmed appearances have industry representatives speculating over whether JYJ’s door of opportunity is slowly widening.
Regarding the speculations, CJES Entertainment carefully replied, “At this time, we’re aggressively working towards getting JYJ on public broadcast shows.”
“Good Morning” will air January 5th, 2011.

JYJ to release a new Korean album early next year

B2ST’s Hyunseung & Kikwang release “Let It Snow” teaser

Producer of ‘KBS Music Festival’ reveals thoughts on YGE’s non-attendance

A controversy is brewing between KBS and YG Entertainment after the entertainment label declared that they would not be attending KBS’s year-end music festival on December 19th.
The producer of “KBS Music Festival” spoke with TV Daily on December 22nd, and revealed their side of the story:

“We received notice of YG Entertainment’s decision to be absent from our ceremony. Their action is extremely hard for us to understand, as they’ve already attended other music award ceremonies, and even won awards. They also told us that YG and 2NE1’s concept does not fit with our music festival. We honestly have nothing to say if YGE makes a decision like that. We do not want to force pressure on teams that cannot attend, so we will just be going our own reasonable way.”

YGE officials previously brought up concerns over 2NE1 being the only YGE artist listed on the ‘top 20 nominees’ for the festival. This is because their labelmates,Se7en and Taeyang , had also promoted in the same year as the girl group, but had failed somehow to place on the list. As a result, furious questions abounded over KBS’s standards for the nominations.
Regarding this, the producer went on to state, “YG Entertainment refused to attend even when they didn’t know 2NE1 was the only group of theirs invited as nominees. We don’t believe that they truly have a problem with Se7en and Taeyang not being included in the nominees. There’s honestly no reason for them to be acting like this.”
“We are making our own effort to make the fairest judgment possible. SM Entertainment’s BoA was not included in the rankings, and they have not expressed a problem with that. It’s pressuring to know that the public is viewing this as a problem between KBS and YG Entertainment; we just hope that it’s an enjoyable festival for all,” the producer concluded.
Nominees are decided by “Music Bank’s K-Chart” and feature winners according to album and digital music sales, along with viewer preference votes.

B2ST’s Doojoon and Dongwoon release “When the Door Closes”!

Having just released a teaser video for their self-composed track, “When the Door Closes“, leader Doojoon and maknae Dongwoon finally dropped the track in full!

The song has a soft, peaceful piano melody which is perfectly complemented by the members’ irresistible voices.

Meanwhile, the other two duets, “Thanks To” and “Let It Snow”, as well as a longer version of “Lights Go On Again“, will be released over the coming days.

B2ST units to debut through “M! Countdown”

As you all may know, B2ST has divided into three project units, as each pair was responsible for coming up with a song for their “B2ST Airlines” concert. It was recently revealed that all three pairs would be making their official debut through this week’s “M! Countdown“!

Mnet has released a teaser announcing the units’ debuts on their music program, and it’s definitely looking like a spectacular early Christmas present for their fans.

The Boss to create a 3-member unit for promotions

It’s been a while since we heard from the boys of The Boss, but fans will have something to look forward to next year – the boys have announced that they will be creating project sub-unit!

On December 20th, their official Twitter account disclosed,

“Hello guys!

News! But not that fresh one. Anyway, as you all know, 3 members - Mika, Karam, and Jay - will be performing as the first unit of ‘The Boss’ in January.
I really want to tell you how awesome it would be, but until the time comes, I have to keep it secret.
But you should look forward to them!
OK. Here’s a hint: Adorable! Stunning! Umm… can’t find any other word to describe it… really stunning!

Super Junior dances to “BONAMANA” on Inkigayo as there’s “No Other” like you

It was a special Inkigayo episode on December 19th, as Super Junior returned to the SBS stage after a successful year as Hallyu stars around the world!
Since the conclusion of their album promotions in July of this year, the boys have rarely grouped together for performance, save for concerts and special performances. So enjoy their double-header performance this afternoon with “No Other” and “BONAMANA.”

TVXQ’s “Athena: Goddess of War” OST track and MV released!

Last week, it was revealed that the two boys of TVXQ would be making their comeback to the Korean music industry by releasing a OST track for SBS‘ “Athena: Goddess of War.”

A few days later, the release date for TVXQ’s track was revealed to be December 20th.

Well, the day has now come, and the “Athena” track has finally been released! Their song, aptly titled “Athena“, is definitely befitting of a thrilling scene with the duo’s passionate vocals and heavy bass.

X JAPAN to sing for Tezuka Osamu’s new anime film

X JAPAN akan menyanyikan sebuah lagu tema untuk film anime mendatang "Osamu Tezuka tidak Sabaku Buddha-Akai yo! Utsukushiku-". 2PM’s Taecyeon involved in dramatic action sequences for “Dream High”

Ikimono Gakari Will Be On Hiatus For Half A Year

Ikimono gakari akan hiatus untuk paruh pertama tahun 2011. Pengumuman itu terjadi pada Rabu malam bahwa band akan mengambil istirahat dari pertunjukan live untuk fokus pada penulisan lagu. Pengumuman ini datang dari vokalis Ikimono gakari's, Kiyoe Yoshioka, sedangkan yang menyatakan bahwa dirinya mingguan radio show "Ikimono gakari Yoshioka tidak Kiyoe All Night Nippon" akan berakhir pada tanggal 21 Desember
Meskipun rumor telah terjadi di sekitar dengan surat kabar menerbitkan sebuah artikel di bulan lalu, perusahaan mereka menyangkal band ini terjadi kekosongan. Pemimpin band, Yoshiki Mizuno, telah mengatakan bahwa mereka akan menulis lagu-lagu baru sambil terus pertunjukan live mereka. Tapi ini tidak benar dengan sumber-sumber mengatakan mereka tidak akan melakukan apapun konser atau pertunjukan live.
Sebuah sumber mengatakan bahwa hiatus mereka tidak akan lebih dari setengah tahun. Mereka akan melanjutkan kegiatan pada bulan Juli 2011. Kohaku Uta Gassen akan kinerja hidup terakhir dari Ikimono gakari untuk saat ini.
Ikimono gakari saat ini salah satu band paling terkenal di Jepang, cukup mengejutkan mendengar mereka akan hiatus selama setengah tahun. Yoshioka meminta maaf kepada semua orang yang menyatakan bahwa "Kita sudah berjalan terlalu jauh sehingga kami ingin beristirahat Ampunilah keegoisan kami.."
